Hey everyone, I wanted to sync up on the topics we covered in class today, in case anyone would like the exact discussion topic (or a place to discuss these themes/tropes further). Or better yet, any new themes that were missed that can be added to the comments here! This might be helpful for those who need to look out for additional details during the book. Here are the topics we talked about (but not limited to):
- Masculinity, all the masculinity –> the toxic, the maternal, everything about men in boots
- authority in war (aka Poor-but also not rally but still a lot-Himilstess being beat up, only form of authority boys can provide)
- Youth of Innocence
- death being a mercy
- How men can be animals and animals are like men
- Comradery
Again, these are the common themes relayed back into class, but hey, there can be other themes I have easily missed out on! Happy reading about war winning and shall continoue winning!
